Technical meetings of Jordanian Tunisian Higher Committee open in Amman


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman Dec. 5 (Petra)--Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry Trade and Supply Yousef Al Shamali highlighted the importance of meetings of the Joint Jordanian-Tunisian Higher Committee that started in Amman on Saturday with a meeting for the joint technical committee.

The meetings aim to forge closer ties between Jordan and Tunisian mainly in the economic field.

Al Shamali who chaired the Jordanian side to the meetings said that the meetings come 6 years after the last joint session and voiced hope that they will contribute to boosting joint cooperation in various fields.

He added that trade exchange between the two countries stood at $30 million last year while it reached $19 million in the third quarter of this year $12.3 million of which are Jordanian exports.

Al Shamali stressed the need for joint efforts to increase trade exchange noting that the government and the private sector shoulder the responsibility of further enhancing trade and investment exchange.

The meetings' agenda include cooperation in the economic trade industrial investment customs transport agriculture energy health cultural and educational fields.

Head of the Tunisian side to the technical meetings and Director of International Trade at the Tunisian Trade Ministry Saeeda Hashisha said the meetings provide an important opportunity to assess relations between Jordan and Tunisian in various domains and discuss means to further strengthen them.
