Two jailed for links to Daesh
(MENAFN- Arab News) MAKKAH: The special criminal court has convicted and jailed two Saudis for associating with Daesh.
One of them got seven years in prison for leaving the country for Syria and joining Daesh. The other was sentenced to a year and three months in jail for keeping his brother's journey to Syria a secret according to an online newspaper.
The Saudi national who left for Syria was found guilty of sedition as he went to Syria to participate in the ongoing war their without the permission of the ruler joining one of the rebel groups there training in the use of arms joining the Daesh terrorist organization and participating in fighting with it and getting involved in suicide operations in Syria.
In addition to the seven-year jail term the court banned him from traveling abroad for seven years after serving out his jail term.
The other man was convicted of nondisclosure of his brother's activities and being in contact with the first defendant during his stay in Syria. The court sentneced him to a jail term of one year and three months and barred him from leaving the country for a similar period after serving out his jail term.
