Odisha offers help to flood hit Tamil Nadu

Chennai: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday offered "all help" to flood-ravaged Tamil Nadu in view of its "vast experience in disaster rescue operations".

Patnaik made the offer in a telephonic conversation with his Tamil Nadu counterpart J. Jayalalithaa.

Patnaik conveyed his concern regarding the torrential rains which have hit the coastal districts of Tamil Nadu including Chennai causing widespread destruction.

He assured Jayalalithaa "all support to the government of Tamil Nadu in the rescue and relief operations" an official statement here said.

In Patna Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said in a message to Jayalalithaa: "My thoughts and prayers (are) with those affected and their loved ones. Bihar stands by the people of Tamil Nadu."
