Uber extends its services to Alexandria


(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) The Uber smart phone application for transportation solutions has extended its services to include the governorate of Alexandria, making it the second Egyptian city of operation after Cairo.

It has also announced, in an official statement, its partnership with Bey2ollak application, which specialises in clarifying traffic conditions to its users in various governorates.

Uber is investing $250m in the Middle East and North Africa, which will be dedicated in part to the development of services in Egypt. According to the company statement, Cairo is one of the fastest growing cities for Uber use, compared to cities in Europe, Middle East, and Africa.

The application had contributed to the provision of job opportunities for more than 1,000 drivers every month, 40% of whom were unemployed before joining Uber. The application conducted more than a million rides in Cairo in just one year.

Company statistics show the five most chosen drop-off locations were City Stars, Nile Towers, Smart Village, 26 July Street, and Cairo Festival City. Statistics also show that the neighborhoods in which the application is mostly used were Heliopolis, Mohandeseen, Zamalek, Maadi, and New Cairo.
