Jordan- Police arrest killers of two Jordanian police officers

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) The Public Security Department (PSD) Wednesday said in a statement it arrested three men involved in the killing of two police officers who were killed Monday night near the Samma intersection in Irbid Governorate, some 80 kilometers north of the capital.

Interior Minister Salameh Hammad ordered to conduct a thorough investigation and intensify efforts to bring the suspects to justice.

The statement explained that three suspects who planned and carried out the attack were arrested. One of them was a brother of a man from the village of Samma who was killed in shootout with police early October when police was trying to arrest him for alleged vandalism of an Islamic cemetery in the northern town.

The other two men were a friend and a cousin of the main suspect, who planned the attack against the police patrol car, the statement added.

Police seized an automatic Kalashnikov assault rifle, used by the killers in committing their heinous crime, PSD statement said.
