Kuwait- Egyptian polling centers receive voters in last day of runoff


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO Dec 2 (KUNA) -- Polling centers re-opened on Wednesday marking the nation second and last day of runoffs for the second and final stage of parliamentary elections held in 13 governorates.A total of 28.14.386 citizens have the right of voting in this stage in which 426 candidates are competing to win a seat among the 213 ones in 99 constituencies. Up to nine candidates had announced their winning in the first stage.A total of 213 MPs in the two rounds of the first stage won in the individual system including (108 belonging to political parties beside 105 independent figures along with those affiliated to the "For the love of Egypt" list) in a turnout percentage of 26.69.The Egyptian electoral system divides the country into 205 constituencies in individual voting system besides four constituencies in list voting systems with a 448 parliamentary seats for the individual system and 120 for lists system while candidates of political parties and the independents have candidature right in both of them.The election was held under comprehensive judicial supervision and high security measures in coordination between the ministries of defense and interior.The election was monitored by a large number of local and foreign civil society organizations foreign embassies besides regional and international organizations including the Arab League the Arab Parliament and the African union.The votes counting will take place following closure of polling boxes late on Wednesday in subsidiary committees.Egypt is witnessing a new phase in its modern history by the end of this electoral process to start a new stage of division between the legislative executive and judicial authorities after the event the country suffered since January 25 of the year 2011.The total of Egyptian residing abroad that passed their votes in the elections in the second runoff exceeded by 9 p.m. yesterday (local time) 17000.The voting of Egyptians abroad is still continuing in a number of embassies till 9 p.m. today according to the local timings of each state.
