Dr. William P. Caldon D.M.D. co-owner of Plattsburgh’s High Peaks Dental explains why with today’s efficient and targeted X-rays dental patients should embrace—not fear—the X-ray machine.
Plattsburgh NY — Dec. 1 2015 — Renowned Plattsburgh dentist Dr. William Caldon published a new article entitled “How Safe Are X-Rays?” In the article he explains that modern X-ray machines have reduced radiation exposure by over 50 percent making them safer than ever before and better equipped to help dentists diagnose serious dental risks before they become medical issues.
Says Caldon “Exposure to radiation is something everyone needs to be cautious about. Whether it’s from the sun an X-ray machine or the environment we are exposed to small amounts of radiation all the time. What’s important is to limit it to minimal necessary levels. Thankfully advances in dental X-rays have dramatically decreased exposure levels. Today a standard dental X-ray exposes you to less radiation than flying in an airplane.”
Dr. Caldon has been a co-owner of High Peaks Dental since 1996 after serving in the United States Air Force for 20 years and retiring as a Colonel. He received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Louisville and his Bachelor’s from Thomas More College. In 2013 USA Today featured Caldon as one of America’s Premier Dentists.
