Jordan 2015 population and housing census kicks off


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Around 25, 000 male and female field researchers early Monday started conducting the 2015 national housing and population census carried out by the Department of Statistics (DoS) every ten years.

DoS has adopted the latest technological methods in counting and collect comprehensive statistical data on various demographic, socio- economic features, including facilities, farms, educational infrastructures, health facilities as well as roads and drainage networks.

The count, which will involve direct one-on-one interviews with residents, aims at collecting vital data on of population growth as well as social, economic and health changes took place in the Kingdom since the last census carried out in 2004.

The tally findings are important indicators for officials and decision makers that can be used to formulate social policies and better meet the public's present and future needs.

The national census includes every single person residing in the Kingdom, its regional waters, rehabilitation and health centers, as well as border crossings of the country.
