80% of Japanese fear terror attacks

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) A newly published survey, conducted by Japan's national Kyodo news agency revealed that almost 80% of respondents said they fear that terror attacks happened in Paris earlier this month could be easily repeated in Japan.

Over a half of those polled, 56.3 percent said that the Japanese government should have held an emergency security meeting on the heels of the Paris attacks to assess the risks.

The opinion poll, which was published Sunday, showed that the support for the Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's Cabinet rose to 48.3% compared to 44% in October, while 40,4% said they do not support the cabinet, down from 41% in last October.

Tokyo is due to host Summer Olympic Games in 2020. After the Paris attacks, the Japanese government announced plans to boost security, including opening a center to collect data on international terrorist networks.
