India's economy surges to 7.4 percent in Q3

(MENAFN) India's economy accelerated to 7.4 percent y-o-y in three months to Sept period, beating China and marginally ahead of analysts' forecasts.

Accordingly, the recorded growth outperformed China's 6.9 percent increase in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) registered for the corresponding timeframe.

India has now recorded three straight quarters of growth above seven percent, but investors have raised doubts about the pace of promised economic reform.

The optimistic numbers make it likely Reserve Bank of India will keep interest rates unchanged when the central bank holds its monetary policy review meeting.
