Turkey calls for fair deal on climate change


(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Responsibility for addressing climate change should rest with developed nations Turkey’s president said Monday.

Speaking on the first day of a UN climate change conference in Paris Recep TayyipErdogansaid any agreement should be guided by the “principleof common butdifferentiated responsibilities”.

He added: “Our main responsibility here is to sign an agreement which is fair effective and inclusive.”

Leaders from 147 countries have gathered in France in an attempt to reach an agreement on limiting global warming.

Erdogan said all nations needed to take responsibility for climate change while recognizing different levels of economic development.

The world was “on the verge of a new era in the fight against climate change” Erdogansaid and developed countries should “take the main responsibility.”

Turkey has already set out a climate change road map for 2030 the presidentadded.

On the sidelines of the summit Erdogan met French PresidentFrancois Hollande where they discussed bilateral issues and theongoing operation against Daesh in Syria and Iraq.
