Oman guest of honour country at heritage forum in Saudi Arabia

H E Ahmed bin Nasser bin Hamad al Mehrzi Minister of Tourism is leading the sultanate's delegation at the fifth National Urban Heritage Forum (NUHF) that began in Qassim Saudi Arabia on Monday. Oman is the guest-of-honour country at the forum.

Held in the presence of Prince Sultan bin Salman president of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTNH) the four-day forum is seeing the launch of a number of initiatives and projects on urban heritage in addition to featuring a major exhibition and workshops in which many public and private sector authorities and experts are taking part.

'In its efforts to preserve urban heritage and develop capabilities as well as investments besides exploring local regional and international experiences in this field the forum this year will host the Sultanate of Oman as the guest-of-honor country' an SCTNH spokesman said.

Oman is also being represented by the Ministry of Heritage and Culture. At the forum the sultanate is hosting an exhibition 'Urban heritage of Oman' which highlights its experience in the development and preservation of urban heritage sites and employment generation in different areas.

Meshari al Naim general supervisor NUHF said 'Hosting Oman in the forum as the guest of honour is a way to highlight their knowledge and experience in the preservation of national urban heritage. This falls under the SCTNH efforts to explore the successful experiences in the Gulf region in order to utilise them in promoting the efforts of urban heritage preservation in the Kingdom [Saudi Arabia].'
