Doha to host first Gulf forum on standardisation in education


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar will host the first Gulf Forum on Standardisation in Education on December 8-9 with the participation of a number of experts and specialists in the fields of education and standardisation in the GCC states, Arab, European and Asian countries and the United States of America.
Talking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Assistant Undersecretary for Laboratories and Standardisation at the Ministry of Environment Dr Mohamed bin Saif al-Kuwari said that the International Council for Standardisation has become aware of the standardisation's important and vital role in strengthening the educational system in the world so that standards and technical regulations become part of the educational system in the future.
He pointed out that the Doha Forum would provide students with a new culture on how to deal with standards in all walks of life, especially in the educational field, saying participants would shed light on the subject of quality based on standardization in education, exchange views and ideas on ways to promote standardization process in education and quality in education.
For his part, Dr Nabil bin Amin Mulla, Secretary General of GCC Standardisation Authority said that the forum aims to emphasise integration with the education sector so as to enhance the spread of standardisation's concept as its activities had effective impact on consumer protection. It can also facilitate global and regional trade exchange as well as support the national economy, a matter which gets great support from various governments and industrial and commercial entities, he said noting that the concept of standardisation in education has become an urgent necessity to every member of society and a key element for welfare and progress of the society.
The forum, to be held under the patronage of HE the Minister of Environment Ahmed Amer Mohamed al-Humaidi, will be inaugurated by HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education and Secretary General of the Supreme Education Council Dr Mohammed Abdul Wahed Ali al-Hammadi.
