26th Doha International Book Fair begins tomorrow


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) DOHA: Qatar National Library (QNL) will attend 26th Doha International Book Fair to be held from tomorrow until December 12 at Qatar National Convention Centre.

Organised by Dar Al Kutub and the Ministry of Culture Arts and Heritage the event provides a platform for publishers to showcase books to the Qatari community.

The QNL booth will highlight sections of the library including resources available through online databases training programmes and social engagement activities. Interactive presentations will showcase items in Heritage Collection such as rare manuscripts archival documents and historical photographs.

It will showcase QNL’s Qatar Digital Library which provides free access to online collection of digital resources and is a reference point for researchers about the history of Qatar the Gulf and the Arab Islamic heritage and sciences. A QNL team will be on hand to help visitors register for free and access the library’s digital resources. QNL will also hold activities for parents and children. The team will welcome visitors to the booth from 9am to 1pm and 4pm to 10pm during weekdays and from 4pm to 10pm on weekends.

Bloomsbury Qatar Foundation Publishing will participate with literary events and a full selection of books in Arabic and English. It will host five literary events for adults and children.

Award-winning children’s author and illustrator Ibtihaj Al Harthi will meet young readers and sign copies of her recent book Mah and Me while Qatar-based writer Eissa Abdulla will sign copies of his soon-to-be-released Shawk Al Kawadi. There will also be a panel discussion and signings with bestselling authors from the region including Ibrahim Nasrallah Jamal Naji and Sheikha Hend Al Qassemi.
