Thailand's tourists' arrivals rise 3.7 percent in Oct

(MENAFN) Thailand witnessed its tourism segment marginally pick up in October as the number of abroad tourists jumped 3.7 percent from September, according to the latest reports.

The slight progress, which came after a slump for two consecutive months following Bangkok bombings in mid-August, was mainly a result of better Chinese tourist numbers.

However, the foreign tourist arrivals from other nations continued to drop, especially from Malaysia and Russia, plus the value of merchandise exports fell by 8 percent from 2014.

On the bright side, exports of certain goods continued to rise like vehicles, particularly the new models of commercial cars, as well as electronic parts and lens exported to China.
