Oman calls for a more united business Asia at GCC's biggest leadership event

Oman joined global leaders to call for a more united business Asia at GCC's biggest leadership event Asian Business Leadership Forum (ABLF) Series 2015 at the Armani Hotel Burj Khalifa in Dubai on Sunday.

H E Dr Mohammed bin Hamad al Rumhi Minister of Oil and Gas and chairman of Omanoil was the recipient of the ABLF 2015 Statesman Award as a recognition for his efforts in showcasing Oman across this sector globally.

Khalil bin Abdullah al Khonji board member of Omanoil received the award on his behalf.

'The award was given to H E Dr Rumhi due to his leadership and outspoken views on the oil and gas sector and for his realistic views on the challenges facing Oman. I am honoured to receive the award on his behalf' Khonji told Muscat Daily.

Khonji who was also the recipient of the ABLF Ambassador of Commerce Award during his tenure as chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Federation of the GCC Chambers in 2013 said events like ABLF are crucial for business leaders to express their views.

'We hope to see such big events in Oman because they attract world business leaders and such events pave the way for international investors to know more about the country.

The Zubair Corporation were recipients of the ABLF Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012 and 2011 respectively.

The ABLF Series has organised over 23 global forums on business trade governance and policy. This year's edition featured issues touching upon energy technology infrastructure women's empowerment global relevance of Asian socio-economic growth and socially responsible businesses.

The forum sessions culminated in the ABLF Grand Awards Ceremony which has over the years honoured over 85 leaders across Asia.
From Oman the attendees included Aqeel Jawad Sultan group chairman Jawad Sultan Group Pankaj Khimji director Khimji Ramdas and Saleh Zakwani executive chairman Apex Press and Publishing.
