Saudi- Govt shutsMadinahcable factoryfor faultyproduction
(MENAFN- Arab News) RIYADH: The authorities have halted the production of specific type of cables at a manufacturing plant in the industrial area of Madinah saying that their use is dangerous from the safety point of view.
According to an official from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MCI) the cables produced by Al-Madinah Cables did not conform to Saudi standards and specifications.
'The cables tend to get heated and result in combustion which can lead to a fire. Also the cables did not match the length specified in the catalogue' he said.
Those who have already bought the cables have been advised to return them to the manufacturers and get their money back.
The ministry called on clients to stop using such cables immediately confirming that all those who previously bought the said cables can return them to the seller and take back the money even if the cables were used.
The ministry said it puts emphasis on continuous follow-up on all products and materials offered for sale in various regions of the Kingdom as well as to ensure the absence of any risk or threat to people.
The MCI urged consumers to report about any shop or sale outlet selling or marketing such cables by contacting toll free number 1900 or through the application of a commercial notification.
From time to time the MCI inspectors visit manufacturing plants in all parts of the Kingdom to ensure that goods are produced according to the set standards. The whole purpose of the inspection is to ensure quality products to the consumers the official said.
