Pakistan offers France counter-terrorism cooperation


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Saturday during his visit to Malta, extended cooperation in counter-terrorism and intelligence sharing to France, said state owned Radio Pakistan.
In a meeting with French President Francois Hollande on the sideline of Commonwealth meeting in Maltese capital Valletta, PM Sharif said Pakistan had made notable gains in the fight against terrorism in the last two years and there is a countrywide consensus to root out the menace of violent extremism.
He reiterated a strong condemnation of the recent Paris terrorist attacks and extended heartfelt condolences over the loss of lives. President Hollande appreciated the courage and resilience of Pakistani people for fighting terrorism.
Moreover, PM Sharif also met with the newly elected Secretary General of Commonwealth, Baroness Patricia Scotland. The Prime Minister said that Pakistan attached importance to Commonwealth, particularly the core values of democracy, freedom, peace, the rule of law, and opportunity for all.
