Egypt stresses full support for efforts of UN envoy to Libya


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry underlined Saturday full support for efforts of UN special envoy to Libya Martin Kobler to maintain the neighboring country's stability and unity amid aggravated situations facing the region.
During a meeting with Kobler, Shoukry reviewed Egypt's efforts exerted over the last year aimed to maintain stability in Libya and support the Libyan people to push ahead the political process and reach a political agreement in order to form a government of national unity, said spokesman for Egyptian Foreign Ministry.
Shoukry stressed the importance of parliament's approval of forming the government as it is the solution reached through negotiations among political powers to end the country's crisis, said spokesman Ahmad Abu Zaid.
The minister expressed Egypt's full confidence that all Libya's political powers will put the country's interest ahead of anything else through supporting the government of national unity to to help it bear its responsibility, Abu Zaid added.
Shoukry affirmed that Egypt continues to support Libyans and facilitate the mission of Kobler which focuses mainly on combating violence and terrorism by all means, and meeting aspirations of the Arab nations, he noted.
Kobler reviewed his contacts conducted with the Libyan parties over the last days and his vision on how to push ahead the political process, Abu Zaid said, noting the two sides underlined the need for the coordination in the coming period.
