(MENAFN) LG Display Co, South Korean-based world's largest LCD panel maker intends to spend a whopping USD1.56 billion in a facility to engage deeper into the organic light-emitting diode (OLED) division, based on recent reports.

The firm ranked as one of the globe's largest manufacturers of thin-film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) panels, OLEDs and flexible displays will build a new factory in Seoul, which will produce large OLED panels, including flexible models.

Accordingly, LG will invest a staggering USD8.7 billion in the all new plant, which will match the size of 14 football fields and will be 100 meters tall, throughout the long haul, which all indicate the fact that it's putting huge focus on OLED.

Furthermore, the South Korean top company is already constructing a factory for flexible OLED panels with an investment of approximately USD900 million in southeast of Seoul, and is projected to begin fully operating in 2017.
