(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) The Ministry of Environment urged all citizens and residents to preserve the Qatari environment, land and sea, during the rainy season.
The Ministry called upon all goers to Qatari Desert and meadows all over the country not to enter those areas with vehicles or motorcycles and to abide by roads only, and to avoid crushing plants and shrubs by cars or motorcycles so as not to cause damage to environment and soil, that threatens wildlife and distorts the beauty of nature on land.
The Ministry noted that access to these sensitive areas during rainfall causes damage to the growth cycle of the plants, shrubs and trees, and leads to a great leveling of the soil and thus its destruction and desertification and the elimination of rare species of plants and trees in Qatari environment.
The Ministry also called on owners of manors to stop grazing during this season, warning that grazing eliminates those plants and shrubs. The Ministry of Environment congratulated the citizens and residents on the rain of goodness and blessings, and stressed the urgent need to cooperate with the Ministry in order to protect the wild environment during the rainy season.
It said that the public awareness of protection and preservation of the environment during the rainy season and in all seasons will richen the wildlife in the Qatari environment.
The Ministry underlined the need to immediately report any violation in desert or meadows by contacting the environmental operation room 998.
