Kuwait- EU Arab League hold constructive discussions on common challenges

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BRUSSELS Nov 25 (KUNA) -- The European Union and the Arab League representatives met here on Tuesday and Wednesday and held constructive discussions on common challenges with a particular focus on the terrorist threat and extremism as well as on the Middle East Peace Process Syria Libya and Yemen as well as the refugees and migration crisis.According to an EU press release they officially launched the Strategic Dialogue between both organisations The fourth meeting of the EU Political and Security Committee (PSC) and the Arab League Permanent Representatives also took place.Sharing concerns about the political and security situation they welcomed the expansion of the Euro-Arab partnership as an adequate regional response it said.In this regard they also stressed the importance of the role played by Arab Ambassadors in Brussels in enhancing the partnership.Within the framework of the launch of the EU-Arab League Strategic Dialogue progress has been made on the Euro-Arab practical cooperation particularly in the fields of conflict prevention early warning and crisis management humanitarian assistance counter-terrorism transnational organised crime and weapons of mass destruction it noted.The establishment of a working group for each of these areas will facilitate joint work to better respond to current and future security threats.The PSC and the Arab Permanent Representatives expressed their determination to together address common political economic and security issues with a view of sharing a better and safer future for all.These fruitful discussions contributed to pave the way to the next EU-Arab League ministerial meeting that was announced to take place in April 2016 in Cairo it added.
