Turkey- Downed Russian jet violated Turkish air space: NATO


(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has said Turkish information over downedRussianjet's air space violation was correct contrary to theRussianclaims.

"The allied assessments that we have are consistent with the information we have from Turkey"theNATOchief said after an emergency meeting in Brussels on Nov. 24.

“We stand in solidarity with Turkey support its territorial integrity” Stoltenbergsaid.

Russian officials had said earlier in the day that the jet did not violate the Turkish space and the jet was hit on the Syrian side of the border.

There has been no direct contact betweenRussiaandNATOso far he said adding thatAnkaraand Moscow have already contacted.

He called for more contact.

The situation is serious and tensions should be eased he said adding that measures should be taken to prevent any repetition of such an incident.

“The common enemy is ISIL” he said referring to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant adding thatRussiashould be guided by that.
