UAE- Yas Viceroy Hotel serves up the best F1 experience


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) With the 2015 Formula 1 just around the corner, Yas Viceroy, the only hotel in the world overlooking a Formula One racing track, is getting into gear. Here are some fun culinary facts about what it takes to be ready for the event.

· The planning begins 12-13 months before, so they are already planning for next year.

· Around 8,000 guests visit the hotel everyday during F1.

· Up to 35,000 meals are served on a daily basis throughout the weekend.

· A team of 225 chefs work throughout the weekend.

· Extra specialist food has to be ordered, for example caviar from Russia, white truffles from Italy and lobster from Maine. Around half a ton of lobster is consumed over the weekend.

· A chef sits down with the team managers ahead of the weekend to create a bespoke menu for the drivers that caters towards their specific needs - they tend to request a lot of protein and vegetables.

· They take on about 80 extra staff to deal with the back of house logistics.

. Legendary chef Antonio Mellino will be bringing the finest Italian cuisine from his restaurant, Quattro Passi to take over Amici. He is a two-Michelin star chef with restaurants on the Amalfi Coast and Mayfair's Dover Street and the upcoming Viceroy Dubai Palm Jumeirah, in late 2016.
