(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Backstage is presenting the second production of its 2015-2016 season, Henrik Ibsen's Pillars of Society at The Junction at Alserkal Avenue in Al Quoz.
Pillars of Society, a drama in four acts, was first published in Norwegian as Samfundets støtter in 1877 and performed the following year.
Pillars of Society questions standards of behaviour that are either created by the society, or self proclaimed. It asks its audience to question why even today, in many cultures, gender dictates destiny. How do society, politics, and economic power alter the rules? Why does humanity frequently lag behind intellect? Ibsen brings out the part of ourselves that we need to see on stage.
