Egypt- 478m mobile phones sold during Q3 2015


(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) Mobile phone sales recorded 478m phones during third quarter (Q3) of 2015, marking a 3.7% increase compared to same period in 2014, where they recorded 461m, according to a report released by Gartner Inc specialised in researches.

Samsung had the largest share of the market by selling 102m phones, compared to 93.6m sold during the same period 2014. The company increased its market share from 20.3% to 21.4% during Q3 2015.

Apple went up to second place in terms of mobile phone sales in the same period after it was in third place. The giant US mobile phone company reached sales of about 46m devices sold during Q3 2015 against 38.1m in Q3 2014, an increase in its market share from 8.3% to 9.3%.

Microsoft came in third place, according to the mobile sales report, a one-rank-decline compared to the period of comparison in 2014. Microsoft sold 30.2m mobile phones in 2015, compared to 43.1m units in Q3 2014, decreasing its market share from 9.4% to 6.3%.

The report's indicators registered an increasing growth in the sales of the Chinese Huawei, with sales increased from 16.3m devices sold in Q3 2014 to, a total of 27.4m devices in Q3 2015. That made the company increase its market share from 3.5% to 5.7%. This allowed it to take fourth place in terms of the global market share of the mobile sales.
