Jordanian, Slovenian senates hold official talks


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman Nov. 24 (Petra)--The Jordanian Senate and the Slovenian National Council held official talks in Amman on Tuesday with the aim of boosting relations between the two countries mainly in the parliamentary field.

During the talks Senate President Faisal Al Fayez signed with President of the Slovenian National Council (Senate) Mitja Bervar a joint cooperation agreement.

The deal calls for promoting relations between the two countries in the political economic cultural educational health social agricultural and sports fields.

Al Fayez praised political and economic relations between Jordan and Slovenia as well as keenness of the two countries' leaderships to further promote them. He said the visit f His Majesty King Abdullah II to Slovenia a few years ago and visits of senior Slovenian officials to Jordan contributed to enhancing economic and political ties.

The Senate president spoke about Jordan's reform process led by His Majesty as well as the current regional issues mainly the Palestinian issue the crisis in Syria and the war against terrorism that threatens the whole world.

The Slovenian official said his country is keen to forge closer ties with Jordan in various fields and called for activating agreements signed between the two countries.

He also voiced appreciation of the role played by King Abdullah to enhance security and stability in the region as well as his efforts to continue services to Syrian refugees in the Kingdom.

The two sides highlighted the need for joint work to counter terrorism and find solutions to crises facing the Middle East especially the Palestinian issue and the crisis in Syria.
