Hollande Cameron pledge counterterrorism steps after Paris attacks

(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Paris Safar 11 1437 November 23 2015 SPA -- French President Francois Hollande and British Prime
Minister David Cameron pledged Monday to step up counterterrorism
measures after the attacks in Paris dpa reported.

Cameron said he would seek parliamentary approval to begin British
airstrikes in Syria a proposal that has been rejected by lawmakers
in the past. He also offered France the use of Britain's air force
base in Cyprus and assistance with air-to-air refueling.

Hollande said France would continue intensified airstrikes against
the ISIS extremist group in Syria in the wake of the
coordinated attacks in Paris that left 130 dead and would also work
with European countries to develop policies to thwart future threats.

"We can do more to fight against the threat of returning foreign
fighters but this will require a European effort" Cameron said in a
joint press conference after the two leaders visited one of the sites
of the November 13 attacks.
