New government as soon as possible says Davutoglu

(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu will form a new Cabinet “as soon as possible” he said Sunday.

The Justice and Development (AK) Party won the majority needed to form a single-party administration in Nov. 1’s general election and last week President Recep Tayyip Erdogan asked Davutoglu to build a government to replace an interim Cabinet formed between the June and November elections.

“I hope we will form the government as soon as possible” Davutoglu told journalists at Turkey's parliament. “There is no delay. It is a natural process.”

However he did not give a specific date for naming new ministers.

“Tomorrow hopefully I will have the first consultation with Mr. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan” he said. “I hope the president will be in Ankara tomorrow and we will discuss it.”

The AK Party took 317 seats in the November election a rerun of the June poll that resulted in no party getting a majority. Coalition talks between the AK Party and others failed leading Erdogan to call a second vote.
