Maersk seeks to increase intake of Qataris in senior positions

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Maersk Oil Qatar (MOQ) has launched the latest phase of its Find Your Place recruitment campaign - a programme aimed at attracting ambitious, high-performing Qataris to work at the country's largest offshore oil producer.
Since the campaign's launch in 2013, the company has successfully increased the number of Qatari nationals in leadership and senior specialist positions at MOQ and received an energy industry award for "Best support to Qatarisation" in recognition of its progress, according to a statement.
Lewis Affleck, managing director at MOQ, said: "Through Find Your Place, more Qatari nationals have discovered that MOQ is the right choice for them, attracted by our focus on providing real jobs with real responsibilities and supported by bespoke, fast-track development courses and mentoring."
Find Your Place features real employees giving insight into their personal experiences, career development opportunities and successful career progression at MOQ.
The latest phase features MOQ's first Qatari female in an operational managerial role, Muneera al-Mansoori, oil export operations manager, production manager Khalid al-Jallabi and petroleum engineer Faisal Almuraikhi, all of whom have benefited from MOQ's development programmes, the statement notes.
Sheikh Faisal bin Fahad al-Thani, deputy managing director at MOQ, said: "Our Qatarisation strategy focuses not only on increasing the number of Qatari employees, but specifically to quadruple the number of Qataris in leadership and senior specialist positions by 2017, and we continue to take ambitious steps to achieve this."
MOQ's Qatari employees can benefit from a number of dedicated programmes that support and accelerate their personal and career development, including one-on-one coaching, mentoring, fast-track programmes aimed at high achievers and global work placements. MOQ's Qatarisation programme was awarded the "Overall best support to Qatarisation" at the annual Qatarisation Review Meeting earlier this year.
Sheikh Jassim al-Thani, head of Qatarisation at MOQ before taking up his own international opportunity in Europe, said: "I am personally benefiting from Maersk's global footprint, by spending a year at Maersk's global headquarters in Copenhagen and gaining new skills and expertise, which I will share with my team on my return to Qatar."
