(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) The two-day second round of the Egyptian parliamentary elections got underway on Sunday in 13 governorates including Cairo.
More than 28 million Egyptians are eligible to vote in the second round. A total of 282 parliamentary seats will be up for competition in the second stage, with 222 seats for independent candidates and 60 seats allocated to party-based lists. The 222 independents will be elected from 102 constituencies, and the 60 party-based MPs will be elected in two separate constituencies, one which holds 45 seats and the other 15.
The four lists contending for 60 seats are: For the love of Egypt, the Republican Alliance, Al-Nour and the Independence Trend.
The run-offs are scheduled to be on November 30 until December 1. Official final results of this round will be announced on December 4.
The first round of the parliamentary elections were held on October 18 and 19 in 14 governorates and run by 226 seats for independent candidates and 60 seats for party-based lists.
