Jordan- Senate president British ambassador discuss regional developments


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman Nov. 22 (Petra)--Senate President Faisal Al Fayez on Sunday received British Ambassador to Jordan Edward Oakden and discussed with him the latest developments in the region.

Al Fayez briefed the ambassador on reforms being carried out by Jordan in the political economic and social fields under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II.

He also reviewed challenges facing the Kingdom due to the current situation in the region mainly the presence of more than 1.5 million Syrian refugees in the Kingdom who are placing an increasing pressure on the country's limited resources.

Al Fayez and the British envoy stressed the need to unify efforts to counter terrorism and terrorist organizations that threaten the whole world.

The Senate president also met with Israeli Knesset member Ahmad Tibi during which he highlighted the strong Jordanian-Palestinian ties.

Al Fayez said that King Abdullah is keen to support the Palestinian issue to enable the Palestinians to regain their rights and establish their independent state.

Tibi voiced thanks and appreciation for Jordan's continued support to the Palestinians.
