Algerian PM Urges "Global Response" to ISIS

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal has called for a "global response from the civilized world" to fight the ISIS group, praising as the "best solution" the move by French President Francois Hollande to seek a U.N. resolution on counterterrorism.

In an interview with French daily Le Monde, carried by Algerian state news agency APS, Sellal said it was "necessary" that all countries "play roles in the issue," otherwise, "we will fail to defeat" it.

Sellal said security-level moves are necessary but added that handling the issue at grassroots is important so as to "extinguish the seat where this phenomenon is born." He underlined that what happened in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and Libya "has contributed to the outburst of terrorism, and this is what has allowed this phenomenon to develop." "It is absolutely essential today that all countries unite to fight it," he said."We must forget political and religious divisions," Sellal said, adding that ISIS "feeds on the fight between Shiites and Sunnis and the remnants of the Iraqi war."
