Kuwait- Libya eyes Jordan's help to overhaul security agencies


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) AMMAN Nov 22 (KUNA) -- Libyan Interior Ministry has asked the Jordanian counterpart to help rehabilitate and restructure Libya's police and security apparatus.In a joint press conference with Jordanian Minister of Interior Salamah Hammad late Saturday the visiting Libyan Acting Interior Minister Brigadier Mohammad Al Fakehri stated his ministry seeks to enhance cooperation with Jordanian security agencies which hold good reputation high level of disciplinary and efficiency both regionally and internationally to raise the efficiency of Libyan security apparatus.He pointed out that they have discussed current developments in the region and efforts to restore security and stability to Libya.The two ministers also discussed ways to boost cooperation between the two countries in security and police fields especially those related to training and qualifying Libyan police cadres in Jordan and re-study and reactivate agreements signed between the two countries to meet their needs.For his part the Jordanian Minister said his country will stand with Libya to achieve its national interests.Hammad also expressed his ministry's security agencies' readiness to cooperate with Libyan counterparts in the security training area including holding training and qualifying courses in accordance with the agreements signed or will be in the future.The two sides agreed to hold another meeting Sunday to discuss details and mechanisms of security and police cooperation between the two countries.
