Mercurial Pakistan batsman Umar Akmal has been added to the Pakistan T20 team for the series against England in the UAE.

Akmal was included on Friday after he was cleared by Hyderabad Police in Pakistan. The 25-year-old cricketer was reported to have breached team curfew by attending a late night dance party during a domestic match in Pakistan.

The Pakistan Cricket Board had decided against having Akmal in the team when they announced the squads for the UAE series against England. "Umar Akmal had been penciled in for selection but he has subsequently been dropped on instructions from the Board as he has been issued with a show cause notice for bringing PCB and Pakistan Cricket into disrepute" Pakistan chief selector Haroon Rashid had said then.

But Akmal said he never did anything wrong. "I attended a dinner party after being granted official permission by my team manager" the controversial cricketer said.

Akmal was reportedly caught when there was a police raid in the late night dance party. He wasn't arrested but police started their investigation and found no evidence of any wrongdoing by him.

So after getting the clean chit from police Pakistan selectors brought the youngest of the Akmal brothers back into the Shahid Afridi-led team. Akmal will replace Iftikhar Ahmed in the team.

Pakistan will play three T20Is against England in the UAE. The first two matches will be played in Dubai (Nov 26. and Nov. 27) while the third one will be played in Sharjah (Nov. 30).
