Kuwait- Al Ghanim: Child law reflects interest in key societal category

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT Nov 21 (KUNA) -- National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim said on Saturday the adoption of the law on children's rights during the last legislative term was an initial step towards the consecration of interest in the weighty societal category of children.In a press statement marking the Universal Children's Day Al-Ghanim said: "The law on children's rights which was passed by the National Assembly during the last term encompassed all aspects of educational psychological physical and right care and protection for children." He reiterated the assembly's unshakable interest in the category of children which determines and shapes the future of society.On children's conditions in the Arab world the speaker who also doubles as Speaker of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) recalled the tragic circumstances experienced by Arab children in regions of armed conflicts in the Occupied Palestinian Territories Syria Iraq Yemen and Libya.He stressed that the AIPU would give a top priority to the issues of particular societal categories in the Arab world such as women the handicapped and children with a view to promoting and ensuring their alienable rights.
