Kuwait- French police carry out 182 new raids early Friday detain 17


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) PARIS Nov 20 (KUNA) -- French police and other security services carried out 183 raids overnight and detained 17 people on suspicion of terrorist links or related offences the Interior Ministry said on Friday.Such operations have been non-stop since the deadly terror attacks on November 13 when 129 people died in shooting and bombing attacks carried out by Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).The Interior Ministry statement said that by early Friday 76 weapons had been seized in the overnight raids and 10 drug busts were also carried out.Over the past five nights 793 raids have been carried out under "State of Emergency" provisions that allow searches without warrant detention and house arrest and a number of other special police and administrative powers.The statement said that 170 weapons including 18 weapons of war have been seized in the raids as have 64 stashes of drugs and 250000 in illicit cash.The French authorities have also placed 164 people under house arrest.The "State of Emergency" has been extended for another three months to give police the power to crack down on suspected terror cells or networks.
