EPA chief: Kuwait keen to answer humanitarian needs at times of disasters


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO Nov 19 (KUNA) -- Director General and Board Chairman of the Environment Public Authority (EPA) Sheikh Abdullah Ahmad Al-Sabah said here on Thursday the State of Kuwait has been eager to secure the basic humanitarian needs of people across the world in the event of crises and disasters.Addressing the 27th session of the Council of Arab Environment Ministers which kicked off here earlier in the day Sheikh Abdullah said Kuwait's humanitarian response stems from commitment to humanitarian goals and values and international law."The State of Kuwait is also acting in this context in line with a strategy purposed to make fast-track response by means of harnessing necessary resources in an efficient and effective manner" he said.Kuwait is interested in the provision of humanitarian and relief aid regardless of race religion nationality or political affiliation the senior Kuwaiti environmental official added."And that's why the United Nations (UN) had to honor His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah the 'Humanitarian Leader' title" he said referring to His Highness the Amir's great role in this vital role.Sheikh Abdullah hoped that this gathering would come up with recommendations and resolutions that could contribute to the promotion of the Arab strategy purposed to reduce the risks and perils of disasters.
