DIPTYQUE New Winter Collection 2015
From their high-reaching branches they root the sky tothe ground housing various essences at unexpectedlevels. Powerful yet delicate these woody scents evokememories images of nature's beauty and the seasons...
The Perfume House has invited Julien Colombier – a painterdedicated to mysterious forests and enchanted jungles –to accompany it on this new sensory adventure. He providesthe flow the light the colours; diptyque provides the texturethe flavours the fragrances; together they have developedthree original and joyful ambiances.
A common creative flame burns within the perfumerand the artist who have collaborated to produce a seriesof timeless ambiances which express their individualsensibilities. Bound together by this decorative approachto art their two worlds collide through the senses. In thesefascinating olfactory or visual “settings” nature intervenesas a constant catalyst: diptyque draws upon the noblest ofits raw materials; the artist draws upon the interplay of linesand shapes using universal geometry as a basis for smoothor angular forms.
The drawing of a tree trunk a leaf or a fruit providesa backdrop for the burst of colour: the radiance ofwhich is at the heart of the collection. Julien Colombier's
choice of palette is a source of light on the darkbackgrounds enhancing the visual impact and theafter effect. The artist's pastels tone down a red and
the perfumer's imagination takes them towardsliquidambar a flamboyant foliage-inspired scent.
Twilight blue merges with the edges of wood which willsoon welcome the precious pools of oliban resin. Goldenspheres hang at the end of needle-covered branches andthe scent of the fir tree is topped off with a hint of citruspeel.
This collaboration is based on evocations free fromnaturalism and symbolism relying on ongoing exchangesbetween the visual and the olfactory. These dreamysettings are illuminated by the flames of candles spreadingthe mystery of the trees with enveloping subtle and densefragrances.
A series of poetic contrasts reminiscent of the holidayseason is available in three fragrances: Sapin (fir tree)Liquidambar and Oliban.
SAPIN

The woody accents are setagainst fresh notes and balmytones within this warm andsoothing aromatic gem.
Julien Colombier
Born in 1972 Julien Colombier lives and works in Paris.extile prints and Art Deco sensibilities trained hiseye with regard to shape colour and detail - his first
‘fascination’ lead him to discover Matisse Keith Haringand other artists capable of painting the energy of joy.
The young artist thus discovered the power of patterns.
Repeated rhythmic expressed patterns and their perpetualrhythm. On a black background armed with pastels andchalk he hones a technique that occupies the space witha collision of colours which he uses like a source of light.
Jungles clouds waves and geometric figures becomepretexts for these contrasts and reality becomes distortedbordering on abstraction. For while he prefers that whichis universal and timeless his patterns are not subjects;rather they serve as media for creating atmospheres free from personal narrative and projections. A single principle:first make a clear and head-on impact; then emphasizethe resulting waves of emotion with finesse and nuance.
‘Tried and tested’ by the world of fashion and design thesecollisions were soon to find new surfaces to colonise. JulienColombier thus invades books picture rails fabric wallsand skateparks; he collaborates with large and prestigiousfashion Houses and his work is exhibited in Europe andthe United States. And he especially likes to go from project to project seeking a form of harmony in discordance.
