IS shows picture of bomb used in attack on Russian airliner

(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) The Islamic State (IS) group's official magazine has posted a photo of what it says was the improvised bomb used to bring down a Russian passenger plane over Egypt last month killing all 224 people on board.

The photo in Dabiq magazine shows a can of Schweppes Gold soft drink and what appears to be a detonator and switch on a blue background.

IS said it had exploited a loophole at Sharm el-Sheikh airport where the Airbus 321 originated in order to smuggle a bomb on board.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russian authorities had seen the picture that appeared in the magazine in the mass media and were investigating.

Russia's Federal Security Service said on November 17 that a bomb brought down the plane over the Sinai Peninsula. Most of those onboard were Russian tourists.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered Russia's secret service to hunt down those responsible and pledged to step up air strikes in Syria "so that the criminals understand that vengeance is inevitable."
