Borealis presents AED1 million to support Emirates Foundation

ABU DHABI 19th November 2015 (WAM) -- Borealis a leading provider of innovative solutions in the fields of polyolefins base chemicals and fertilisers has presented AED 1 million to the Emirates Foundation as part of its continued partnership with the organisation according to a statement released today.

The contribution was made by means of the Borealis Social Fund which was launched in 2008 and is dedicated to enhancing the social welfare of the communities in which Borealis operates.

This continued support comes as part of an agreement signed yesterday by Mohanna Al Muhairi Chief Operations Officer at Emirates Foundation and Mark Garrett Borealis Chief Executive Officer in the presence of Clare Woodcraft-Scott Chief Executive Officer of Emirates Foundation.

Founded in 2005 as an independent philanthropic organisation by the Government of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi the Emirates Foundation seeks to improve the welfare of UAE youth. Working with partners from both public and private sectors the Foundation has developed a variety of programmes and special projects for young people which aim to promote social inclusion community engagement leadership and empowerment.

"We are convinced that allowing young people to give back to their community in a structured way helps make them more productive citizens" explained Clare Woodcraft-Scott. "Thanks to the generous support provided by Borealis we can continue to implement programmes that positively impact young people's lives in the long term."

"A healthy environment and stable society are the prerequisites for developing a successful business" says Mark Garrett. "By means of the Social Fund we can give something back to the communities in which we operate. Our partnership with important national institutions such as the Emirates Foundation helps to ensure that young people share our passion for knowledge and education and be encouraged to become active members of their communities."

By way of its Borealis Social Fund the company has provided regular support for a range of humanitarian and educational organisations in the UAE such as the Emirates National Schools the UAE Disabled Sports Federation Emirates Red Crescent the Zayed Higher Organisation for Humanitarian Care the Family Development Foundation and other select charities.
