Italy Donates 15 Million Euros to Palestinian Authority


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Palestinian Minister of Finance Shukri Bishara and the Consul General of Italy in Jerusalem David La Cecilia on Wednesday signed a loan agreement worth 15 million euros to support reconstruction in the Gaza Strip.

The repayment of the loan for up to 40 years, including a 27- year interest free grace period in addition to a grant to the Ministry of Public Works and Housing worth 1.45000 euros to enable to rebuild homes project within this loan.

Bishara stressed the importance of this agreement in reconstruction of houses and improvement of quality of life in the Gaza Strip, while pointing out that the Palestinian Authority and the Italian government signed an agreement last June to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through the Palestine Private sector.

During the Conference on "Reconstructing Gaza" held in Cairo, the Italian government has pledged to donate 27 million euros to the Palestinian Authority .
