(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) PLO Executive Committee Member Dr. Hanan Ashrawi, Wednesday asked President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Peter Maurer to conduct a prompt , neutral and objective investigation into Israeli occupation attacks on the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) .
In a statement released today, Ashrawi stressed the need for providing an immediate protection to the PRCS, working teams, medical and humanitarian facilities and to ensure the access of medical and humanitarian missions without hindrance in accordance to the statute of the ICRC.
Ashrawi demanded Israel to be held accountable for its violations against sanctity of medical facilities and ambulances staff in an explicit violation of international humanitarian law , citing that not drawing the world's attention of Israel's crimes against medical facilities such as the raid on Hebron al-Ahli hospital and execution of Abdallah Azzam Shalaldeh who is in an urgent need of care and treatment.
