Qatar- DFI hosts 20 envoys in run up to Ajyal Film Festival


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Minister of Culture Arts and Heritage H E Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari with the ambassadors and other officials at the event.

DOHA: Twenty ambassadors attended an event hosted by Doha Film Institute (DFI) in the run-up to the third annual Ajyal Youth Film Festival.

The event aimed to stimulate increased links between DFI and the local diplomatic community.

The networking event was held in the presence of Minister of Culture Arts and Heritage H E Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari and attended by the ambassadors of the US South Korea Spain Switzerland India Georgia the Netherlands Japan Brazil Palestine France Portugal Canada Mexico Bulgaria Belgium Sweden the UAE the UK and Argentina.

The festival from November 29 to December 5 will screen films from 36 countries.

It consists of daily public screenings of local and international films; the popular ‘Made in Qatar’ section showcasing home-grown talent from Qatar; Sony Cinema Under the Stars; family weekend; Doha Giffoni Youth Media Summit; special events and exhibitions; Sandbox interactive digital playground; school screenings; and Ajyal competition where hundreds of young jurors in the 8-21 age group will watch and discuss short films and features and decide on the winning entries.
