Putin Netanyahu to discuss Syria at climate change conference in Paris


(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed to meet at the upcoming Paris climate change conference Netanyahu’s press service said Wednesday.

From November 30 to December 11 France is scheduled to host and chair the 21st UN Climate Change Conference.

"The two leaders agreed to meet… at the conference on climate change in Paris to discuss the situation in Syria" the press service said following a telephone conversation between the two politicians.

Russia launched airstrikes against Islamic State jihadist group positions in Syria on September 30 following a request from Syrian President Bashar Assad.

Israel has conducted several airstrikes in Syria against alleged Lebanese Hezbollah group weapon convoys over the past few months in retaliation for militant rocket fire.

In September during Netanyahu's visit to Moscow Israel and Russia agreed to set up a mechanism to coordinate military actions in order to avoid conflicts over Syria.
