UAE receives five Guantanamo prisoners

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Tuesday that the country has received five Yemeni nationals who had been detained at the Guantanamo Bay.
The initiative was taken by the UAE at the request of the United States government, the ministry said in a statement carried by the UAE's official news agency (WAM).
"The move takes into account the circumstances experienced by the sisterly state of Yemen," it added.
The Pentagon had announced that the number of Guantanamo prisoners fell to 107 after sending the five Yemeni prisoners to the UAE.
