Jordan- Pentagon bans military personnel from traveling to Paris


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Washington Nov.17(Petra)-The Pentagon has barred all military personnel civilian employees contractors and dependents from traveling to or from Paris.

The new policy prohibits unofficial travel to Paris and within a 50-kilometer (31-mile) radius of the city by U.S. military members Department of Defense civilian employees and contractors said the Pentagon spokesman Captain Jeff Davis.

Meanwhile US State Department said it has no plans to issue a travel warning to its citizens at this time according to Niles Cole spokesman for the agency's Bureau of Consular Affairs.

U.S. troops and civilian personnel can go on vacation at French sites outside Paris and its immediate surrounding areas with permission of a general officer Davis said.

U.S. troops and civilian personnel can also continue to make commercial airline connections in France as long as they do not leave "secure portions of airport terminals" a statement by U.S. European Command said .

"This is a precautionary measure to keep our personnel and families safe in light of the recent attacks" the statement said. It did not give a timeline on when the policy would be reviewed or lifted.
