Kuwait- Parliament Speaker Al Ghanim lauds talks with UAE officials


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT Nov 17 (KUNA) -- President of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) and the National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim lauded talks he held late on Monday with UAE officials during his brief visit to the GCC country.In a press statement the Parliament Speaker Al-Ghanim said that his discussions with the UAE Vice-President Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan were constructive and fruitful."As head of the Arab parliament I declare that my discussions with Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al-Maktoumm and Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al-Nahyan focused on urgent regional files especially the situation in the occupied Palestine" said Al-Ghanim affirming that it was important for Arabs to unite in an effort to halt the Israeli aggression and mistreatment of Palestinians.He said that "discussions also touched on developments in Yemen Iraq and Syria in addition to issues related to the ongoing acts of terrorism requiring a firm regional and international stance." The Parliament Speaker Al-Ghanim called on the GCC states to cooperate within the counter-terrorism domain adding that he had received the UAE's views regarding the matter during his meeting with the Emirates top officials.He thanked the UAE officials for their support for the Arab parliamentary union and commended at the same time the role played by the UAE within the GCC and Arab legislative spheres.Al-Ghanim concluded his statement by saying that the talks with the UAE officials had reflected the long standing relations linking the two brotherly countries "which will hopefully continue to develop ever more."
