Vienna meeting over Syria "positive" - Iran


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian Monday described a recent meeting in Vienna, Austria, over Syria as "positive" despite different views over the Syrian conflict.
"Iran has requested the participation of countries like Iraq, Lebanon and Oman in the meetings of Vienna because of their positive role" towards the Syrian crisis, he said during a function in Tehran.
Iran, he added, had made it clear that participants in the Vienna meeting should not take the decisions instead of the Syrian people.
Abdollahian called for creating of conditions for the political solutions, which should start with the halt of war, monitoring of borders and differentiating between opposition and terrorist groups.
