Kuwaiti team conducts 12 surgeries for Syrian refugees in Turkey


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwait's Shifa humanitarian team conducted Monday 12 surgeries for Syrian refugees in Amal Hospital in the southern city of Hatay, close to the Syrian borders.
The operations were carried out on 10 Syrian men and women refugees with ages between 20 and 35 years old, Dr. Talal Al-Fadhalah, team coordinator, said in a statement to KUNA.
The surgeries included transplant of tissues from leg to foot, ambutating part of the foot and other prastic operations, he said.
Most of the injuries were burns or caused by shrapnel, explosions or gun shots, said Al-Fadhalah.
Meanwhile, the team distributed medicine to a clinic in Antakya, the administrative capital of Hatay, which was serving around 4,000 Syrian refugees.
Members of the Shifa team had carried out two days ago 10 operations, mostly plastic surgeries.
Shifa humanitarian team, sponsored by Kuwait's Zakat (alms) House, is carrying out its mission in cooperation with doctors from the LEAP Global Missions and Interplast-Germany.
